Numerology: The Basics

Numerology has been used for a very long time. Throughout history, practically all civilizations have used variations of it. Even though many well-known mathematicians have extensively explored it, many people still see it as a transitory fad. The earliest known examples of numerology are from the cultures of Egypt and Babylon. Ancient Rome, Greece, China, and Japan all made extensive use of numerology. Numerology, according to certain well-known pandits, is a subfield of astrology. The Greek philosopher Pythagoras is typically credited with discovering modern numerology. Pythagoras may not have invented numerology, but he did create a lot of theories that gave numbers a whole new meaning.

Here is how to determine your life path number using the day of your birth:

1. Add the digits of your birth month to get the number.

2. Add the digits that represent the day of your birth. Add the previous sum's two digits together if the number is more than 9.

3. Add the digits from your birth year to get your age. Add the previous sum's two digits together if the number is more than 9. Continue doing this until you have a single digit.

4. Add up steps one through three. The life path number is obtained by adding the digits of the previous sum if the result is more than nine.
